The Outskirts

We live in the northwest on the very edge of the city. There are apartment buildings and office towers all around. There is new construction everywhere to the north, east and south of us. Beijing has been in a building boom for several years prior to the 2008 Olympics.

To the west there are apple orchards and greenhouses and just a fifteen minute bike ride from our place is a small town which has not had the advantage of the new construction.

    Hi there.

Once again I am so amazed at your remarkable blog. This is absolutely fantastic and gives a great birdseye view of China. Must be fantastic for Hayden who can keep a close watch on his Nanny and Poppy. I am sure he is the one who misses you the most.

I love seeing the pictures of China.

    Love,

    Judy

    Hi Judy,

It’s always great to read your comments.

Paul is out and about almost every day and has become an avid biker and photographer. He loves the benefits too of getting in great shape and losing weight. My schedule is all over the place this term and I don’t get out as much as I would like, but whenever I have the chance I join him. That old saying about learning to ride a bicycle is really true, even after thirty years!

    Love,

    Babs
