Finally!!!
We have our tickets for our flight to Beijing. I was waiting to hear when school started and I received an email from Wang Yue (Patty) at the Beijing Foreign Language School who informed me they start on September 7. I then bought our tickets with Air Canada to fly out of Victoria, B.C. because we will be visiting Paul’s sister Marie and her husband Joseph before we leave. It broke my heart to pay the price because just last week they had a seat sale and the seats were half the price we paid– $1576 for two one way tickets!!
Anyway, did you know that the time in Beijing is almost exactly the same as Ontario except they’re twelve hours ahead? So if it is 12:00 noon here it is 12:00 midnight in Beijing, but they are half a day ahead of us.
That means we fly from Victoria on Tuesday, September 1 and arrive in Vancouver. Then we fly out of Vancouver at 12:00 midnight (Wednesday,September 2). When we arrive in Beijing at 2:20 p.m., it will be Thursday, September 3!!
That gives us three days to adjust to a new culure, new language and get over jet lag ! No problem! Yikes!!!
